VGM’s John Gallagher, Tom Powers and Ron Bendell deceased on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. this past week to meet with key members of Congress to urge support for rural relief legislation. As Congress is itching to get their September business completed and head back to their home states as Election Day is quickly approaching, there are many issues being worked out in Congress. John, Tom and Ron met with well over a dozen offices that are strong voices to be able to get rural relief legislation passed. The biggest challenge is the negotiations on funding the government, known as a continuing resolution which is being held up by various hotly contested issues. Congressional leaders will continue to work on these negations, compounded with other healthcare related legislation also being included into the discussions. Our congressional champions remain committed to keeping DME a part of the discussion as many on Capitol understand just how urgent this matter is. As your elected officials likely come home this weekend, we encourage you to reach out to them and tell them what this fix means for patients, providers and your community. We will continue to bring you the latest updates through next week as Congress is looking to quickly conclude the September session.
