DME providers, VGM associates and members of the community came to the home of Clint Geffert Friday night for an event for Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA). Grassley has been senator of Iowa since 1980 and is currently running in very tight race to keep his senate seat.
DME providers in the area attended the event, getting plenty of one on one time to speak with the Senator about issues like reimbursement reductions to home medical equipment and DME access issues. The senator mingled with guests for over 2 hours discussing current issues and chatting about the weekend collegiate football games.
Senator Grassley has been a longtime supporter of the DME Industry, signing on to recent bills such as S.2736-PADME. He has also been the lead senator on important bills such as S.2373, the Lymphedema Treatment Act, S. 829 Medicare Orthotics and Prosthetics Improvement Act, and S. 3196 BREATH Act- the recently introduced bill that preserves access to ventilators for Medicare beneficiaries.
The Gefferts presented the senator with an ice cream cake for this 83rd birthday which was the following day.
