HME providers who submitted bids for the Round 2 and/or National Mail-Order Recompete may receive an email today with information regarding the program’s paperless “Connexion” online portal. Registration for Connexion opened on February 17.
CMS touts Connexion as “the new secure, online portal for the competitive bidding program,” and suggests all authorized officials (AO) or backup authorized officials (BAO) should register now. In this manner, bidding providers will be able to access contract offers and other contracting correspondence. These contracting items will not be mailed. End users (EUs) will not have access to contracting information but will be able to view and complete forms once contracts are fully executed.
To register, go to the Competitive Bidding Implementation Contractor (CBIC) website and select Connexion. Then, click on the green “Register for Connexion” button, which links to the CMS secure Enterprise Portal, and register in the Enterprise Identity Management (EIDM) system. (Note: If you bid in Round 1 2017 but did not bid in the Round 2 Recompete/National Mail Order program, you do not need to register for Connexion at this time. Connexion registration instructions will be provided to you later.)
Resources on how to register are also on the Connexion page, including reference guides.
Note: As of noon today, the CBIC reports some difficulties with the portal. Users may experience the error message “data feed validation failed due to an exception while executing the query”. the CBIC is attempting to correct the situation.
If you have any questions or need assistance with Connexion registration, you may call the CBIC customer service center at 877-577-5331 between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday.
The timeline for the release of the new “single payment amounts” and the beginning of the contracting offers for this program remains somewhat vague. CMS indicates “Winter 2016” for the announcement of the SPAs and “Spring 2016” for the release of the new contract suppliers and the “contract supplier education campaign”. The opening of the Connexion portal may suggest these dates are approaching, however, we may be well into “Spring” before any SPA announcement, with the array of contractors perhaps not finalized until May. VGM will be closely monitoring the timeline.
