|We appreciate everyone’s last minute efforts to contact their senators late last week. The Senate is back in session at 3 p.m. today, and we’ve been informed they will likely start the hotline process again later today. We haven’t been able to pin the “hold” onto any particular senator yet, but our bill sponsors and industry stakeholders are actively working towards moving this bill forward.
The House will be back in session tomorrow. Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) is working with House leadership on advancing the bill this week despite Friday’s hold up.
Also, we received news that the National Federal of Independent Business (NFIB) is encouraging their members to reach out to their congressional leaders. The voice and support of groups such as the NFIB is a great asset in the fight against the proposed July cuts to reimbursement rates.
See message below from the NFIB Director of Legislative Affairs, Kevin Kuhlman:
The Senate will vote on S. 2736/H.R. 5210, the Protecting Patient Access to Durable Medical Equipment Act, this week. This bill would protect home medical equipment providers from significant payment cuts scheduled for July 1, 2016.
A strong approval vote in the Senate will send a signal to the House to quickly consider the bill before the scheduled cuts. Please contact your members of Congress to urge their support for S. 2736/H.R. 5210!
